活塞环在使用中易出现严重磨损弹力减弱，内部结胶及折断等故障。活塞环在长期的使用过程中，受到高温高压和往复运动的影响，会出现磨损。当磨损达到一定程度时，活塞环的弹力开始减退，端隙侧隙和背隙也会逐渐增大，对燃烧室的密封作用会减弱。在活塞环的密封作用减弱后，柴油喷人燃烧室后就会出现燃烧不完全，燃烧室内产生的高温气体会通过活塞环的间隙进入曲轴箱，使活塞环内积炭增多，密封作用的减弱，也造成了润滑油上窜，使用的时间越长，活塞环内部结胶就会越多。活塞环折断一般是由于装配方法不正确或活塞环被积炭卡死所造成。

The weakening of the sealing effect also causes lubricating oil to flow up. The longer the use time, the more adhesive will accumulate inside the piston ring.
